Richie –
I 100% recommend doing the Mental Health First Aid course with Mental Health and Life. Richie’s love and enthusiasm for the course and the content makes this course so enjoyable and interesting. The fact that he can convey this over a computer screen is the mark of a great trainer. He is very knowledgeable and engaging. The course content is great, easy to understand and really useful. Richie uses relatable stories which really helps you to remember the information and link it to every day life. He encourages you to talk, interact and really think. This course has helped me so much in my job in family support work. I find myself asking the right questions and delving a little deeper with people, which has helped me to understand how I can support them in a more effective way. I originally did this course so that I could support my colleagues in my previous job in security, where mental health support/awareness did not exist. We have mental health first aiders for the staff at my current job, which I personally find reassuring. This qualification is useful in all sectors of work and putting mental health first aiders into your company is so important. We spend 8 hours a day, at least, at work and if our minds aren’t healthy there then when are they going to be healthy? Book yourself/your company onto this course and take the first step to building a healthier place to work. You will not regret taking this course and meeting the bright light that is Richie.

I’ve just completed training in Supervising Mental Health for 1st Aid Level 3 which I came across on Reed Courses. It was a tremendous course which I’m sure will have a profound impact on the children and adults I work with in education.
The course was delivered via Zoom. I found it to be just as, if not more effective than sitting in a classroom. I was able to interact with the course tutor and other participants fully, while managing to work around my 2 year old!
Richie’s teaching style was challenging, yet supportive. The delivery was varied involving, videos, polls, role play, break out sessions, opportunities to network and more, which enhanced the whole learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and would 100% recommend this training for any one with a passion for mental health and any organisation which needs support in developing a mentally healthy culture.

Truly enjoyed this course. It was very informative. The instructor kept me engaged and the sessions were brilliant.

The Mental Health First Aid Supervisor course was intense but easy to follow, this was mainly down to the way Richie delivered the course. Richie is a really engaging and genuine instructor. I could not have asked for anything more, I have truly learnt life long skills, which I hope to use not only help myself but many others along the way ~ Thank You! – Naz Sheik
Richie –
The course was brilliant. I was dreading spending such a long time on Zoom but it was so very engaging this was not an issue at all. I have just been advised of successfully completing the course and feel very prepared to be competently able to use these newly learnt skills as required.
Richie –
I found it an extremely valuable couple of days, but I’m very pleased the assessments are over (saying that, the role-play we did was very useful)!! There was a lot for Richie to incorporate into the time but he included polls, video’s, real life examples and similar and it was really engaging throughout. There were 3 participants outside of Gilead in addition to us and I think this was also really helpful as they had other experiences to add (2 of them had experience of working in social care). It was a really engaging course.
Richie –
I really enjoyed the course and found it to be very informative – it has definitely helped me to appreciate the broad range of mental health illnesses that people can suffer from and what circumstances might trigger them. Even though it was quite intense at times, it was very worthwhile! I now feel empowered & prepared to initiate conversations with people and know where to direct them for further help. Richie was engaging, enthusiastic and clearly wanted us to learn the content for the right reasons (i.e. not just to pass but to be able to help others)

Richie is an excellent facilitator for Mental Health training. He’s incredibly open and honest and clearly very knowledgeable in his field of expertise. Richie supported our company in training 48 leaders (so far!) as Mental Health First Aiders. His course content is rich, and delivered at a perfect pace, and the discussions he generates are both necessary and useful! I’d highly recommend Richie and his company for all your Mental Health Awareness and Training needs!

I completed the Supervising First Aid For Mental Health Level 3 Course (2 Day) with Richie at Mental Health and Life. I really enjoyed the course and found it useful for me looking after my own mental health and wellbeing. There was also lots of information about supporting other people in different situations, at home and at work. Richie is an experienced and relaxed trainer, the course was well planned and really interesting.

Richie Perera –
I did the course “Supervising First Aid For Mental Health Level 3 Award” with them in May 2022. The teacher, Richie Perera, was very enthusiastic, helpful, and knowledgeable. Very useful course for everyone! I was happy with it.
Helana Williams –
Richie’s energy level, enthusiasm and passion comes across on the course and makes it a very enjoyable course to be part of. He obviously leads by example which is so important. Richie’s presentation style on ZOOM is excellent and keeps you engaged at all times. I would like to say a big thank you to Richie.
Helana Williams –
I would like to say how professional and knowledgeable you are Richie. Despite the sometimes traumatic nature of some of the content, you were always considerate in your delivery and empathetic of your course attendees. Thank you for an enlightening experience.
Karl Clawley –
A full on couple of days being trained in First Aid for Mental Health. My instructor, Richie Perera (MHFA) proved to be a knowledagble trainer who ensured full understanding was given before moving on to the next mental illness subject matter.
Tony Brooker –
I enjoyed the course and would recommend others to do it.
Chris Bliss –
Richie is great, really knows his subject matter and his personal experience really made the course authentic.
Mark Hutley –
It exceeded my expectations, The course tutor was also very good
Paul Cammack –
Really like the instructor and style, approachable and felt we already knew each other.
Julie Hutchinson –
I learned a lot from this course and feel confident that I can provide support for my staff. If there had been more time, I feel there would have been an opportunity for more engagement and discussion. We were given the opportunity to ask questions but tended to hold back because of the time constraints.
The trainer was extremely knowledgeable and did make the “death by powerpoint” an enjoyable and productive two days.
Nikki Raine –
Really great and informative course which exceeded my expectations. I would encourage other members of my organisation – particularly Line Managers to attend
Lois Bryant –
Richie is a fantastic instructor and made the entire process a pleasure. I learnt so much over the two day course and look forward to feeding back to my organisation, and communicating the need to expand training across the company.
Sharron Webster –
i really liked the way the training was put together, i enjoyed sharing our stories and our well being menu
Also the well being menu has really helped me to do more for my own well being and mental health
over all, i really enjoyed my training, i feel i have learnt so much and will help me support my staff and managers that i manage every day
Paul Walker –
Richie has an open and engaging style and lived experience of some of the issues discussed which gave him real gravitas as the course tutor. He was also very open and accommodating which created a safe environment to share my own experiences. He has also inspired me to read more around the subjects we discussed. I have considered joining the Samaritans as a volunteer in the past and Richie has inspired me to investigate this further. Thank you!
